Northern Villages

This morning we had a good breakfast – part of the price – and set off to explore the northern villages. We decided to book another night at Pension Becker so we wouldn’t have to pack up all our gear again. We also knew it would be easier than looking again for accommodation.
Most of the day was spent visiting little villages such as Creglingen, Rottingen, Weikersheim, Bad Mergentheim, Lauda-Konigshofen and Tauberbischofsheim. Each had some unique features but collectively they simply added colour and depth to the well publicised Romantic Road.
We also found the countryside in and around the Tauber valley really fascinating. The well laid out fields with their great variety of crops were many wonderful shades of green. Some had rings of red poppies around them. Most of the fields were so geometrically aligned that you could be forgiven if you thought a mathematician had planned it all.
