Arrival in Santorini

Almost all boat visitors to Santorini arrive via Port Athenios and no wonder; wouldn’t anyone want to make use of the spectacular cliffs with which to welcome visitors? The postcards are indeed true and Santorini is rightly the subject of many of them.

We arrived in Port Athenios, Santorini at around 6 pm and faced a wall of people offering accommodation. We spotted the name ‘Georges Pension’ in the crowd; this was a site we had looked at earlier so knew enough about it to approach George and confirm the price etc before setting off with him to his establishment.
