Wananga

The Tira Hoe Waka is a wananga or education/learning experience as much as it is a 230 km journey by waka. Learning comes in the form of korero about places and events given by those who hold and are prepared to share their knowledge. On the Tira Hoe Waka that knowledge was shared each evening during karakia and less formally through out each day. Learning also took place during the various waiata and haka sessions.
