While the Tira Hoe Waka experience was relaxing, enjoyable and a valuable learning experience that didn’t happen by accident. Gerard Albert and his team had certainly done their homework in terms of:

• Describing daily routines
• Organising jet boat support and daily supplies
• Wananga content
Individuals had personal responsibilities for:
• Bringing and looking after personal equipment
• Ensuring team responsibilities were carried out
