Around the Resort 2

The most popular spot was pool side!

The kids enjoyed the pool slides!

Caitlin and Finn take a shower after their swim.

Tyler certainly loved it.

No wonder it was so popular – for swimmers as well as loungers!

A banquet at the Chemnasiri home

This programme doesn't allow for specific placement and labelling of photos but some sleuthing by family members will help to identify who is whom!

More feasting!

Jib’s dad took us to a really super restaurant in Bangkok. Mac is sampling the food.

A Wonderful spread

I will be happy to do penance for this feast - it was simply wonderful!

International Banquet

We all took part in the international banquet – a tranquil setting overlooking the lake with its calming water fountain.

Around the Rose Gardens

The Rose Garden

Mac and Jib took us out on Sunday to the Rose Garden. It comprises a huge hotel and several conference facilities situated near the river; numerous restaurants, several huge gardens, an enormous lake and show cases a traditional Thai Village with artisans at work.

This was an excellent opportunity to watch experts plant rice, paint umbrellas, carve vegetables to decorate banquet tables etc. and weave figures with grasses (similar to NZ flaxes).

Mac and Lynne wait while the General Manager organises our tickets for the day, courtesy of Jib’s dad. He is the Rose Garden’s Number 1 customer since he runs so many of his courses here.

Sukumvit

While we were in Bangkok we were fortunate to be offered accommodation at one of her dad’s condominiums in Sumkumvit, near their house. The front was graced by tall granite columns and the Sky Train station was just metres away - a very, very handy location. The gym and swimming pool were also wonderful assets!

Pan

I caused Pan some consternation when I went in for my cuddle but at least I got one! His aunty, Oi, can be seen in the second photo.

Bangkok

This is the reason we came to Bangkok – our Thai grandson, Pan. Here he is firstly with his mum Jib Chemnasiri and secondly with his grandfather. In the last photo his dad, Mac, is sitting in the background.

The Birthday Girl

After our tour we took our guides to lunch. It was the 16th birthday of the girl with glasses. The boy (18 years of age) is also at university – he was our driver.

More on the Killing Fields

The sign on the tree below tells the story and no further comment is needed!

The Killing Fields

The students took us to the Killing Fields – what an experience! One of the shots below shows a very tall building that houses skulls of the victim’s of Pol Pot’s reign of atrocity

CCH Boys' Dormitory

This is one of the boys’ dormitories. Boys’ and girls’ dormitories mostly sleep up to 7 people.

Thavery Chhim

Thavery Chhim - the building in the background is the orphanage’s latest project – a 3 level block that will eventually contain a kitchen, dormitory and classrooms.
